Mindful Walking
Over the years I have dipped in and out of meditation practice. I’m currently out of a regular practice. Mindful walking is really working for me at the moment though, especially first thing in the morning. Personally, I like to walk fairly fast along trails where I feel really feel connected to nature and the changing environment. I prefer to be on my own because I often talk to myself (or the dogs) so I head out where I know it will be quiet.
But what makes it mindful walking rather than just dog walking?
For me, it’s about being in the moment, focusing on my environment but also how I am feeling physically, mentally and emotionally. It’s not about multi-tasking, thinking about my to do list or other people. Sometimes I do end up focusing on something that’s bothering me and it almost always helps me to figure it out but that’s certainly not the purpose of my daily walk.
Try it - do it however feels good to you, walk at whatever pace suits you, with or without headphones but just take time to focus on yourself and your environment. And do message me if you’d like to know more about mindful walking or getting outdoors more.
